  • I'm a police officer. It was a great opportunity for us to meet Bulent Onal. I was performing my east-service (compulsory service in eastern and southeastern provinces) in Mardin. My 8 month old son was diagnosed with trigonocephaly, since his bones in front of the head fused prematurely. We were told that he needed to have a surgical operation; otherwise he would encounter the mental retardation and triangular-shaped-head problems. We went to certain physicians in Istanbul. We were quoted a surgery cost of 50,000 TL. I sold my car, and while I was waiting for a loan from the bank, a friend of mine, a police officer in Mardin, said me that he had herniated lumbar disc surgery performed by a very good surgeon, Assoc. Prof.Dr. Bulent Onal. I said that the surgical procedure could not be performed by all physicians. He said there were hundreds of patients in front of his door. Thereupon I immediately took Fatih to Batman. When we arrived, I was told he was in surgery. I waited for his coming out till evening. He had no appointment but was tired after performing 5 surgical operations. He saw me at the door. He was younger than I expected. I thought he was possibly unable to do that. Nevertheless, I requested him to do that. Although he was tired, he politely invited me in. He said "You are lucky; I came for dressing up here. Otherwise you would not be able find me". He exhibited love towards Fatih, and fondled him. He had a look at his tomography result. He said he could do the surgery. I said I sold my car for surgery. He replied me saying "You are doing a sacred duty here. Buy-back your car, I will ask for help from the owner of the hospital." May Allah be pleased with him thousand times. The operation took 3 hours. Today my son is 2 years old. You said me to bring him to kiss your hand when he grows up, so we will surely visit you. I will send Fatih's photo to your e-mail address. I hope we together will come to kiss your blessed hands.

Dear Ahmet, Fatih became very sweet. I'm very glad to hear from you. Bring up him healthy and peacefully. Let him become a good and well-behaved individual, who is devoted to his homeland and loyal to Atatürk's principles. Warm regards.

  • I am writing this comment with intent to thank Mr. Onal, and to give an example to patients who have a lower back problem, like my mother. My mother is 53 years old and was operated by Mr. Onal in the morning of July 14, 2016 at Acıbadem hospital in Eskisehir... We went to many doctors before Mr. Onal. We went to 7 or 8 doctors serving private and state hospitals in different cities... The majority of doctors said that my mother had a herniated disc problem, and that they could operate her the next day. Lastly in 2013, we went to one of the leading neurosurgeons of Turkey in Istanbul. The doctors stated that my mother had canal stenosis, hernia, and lumbar spondylolisthesis, adding that the removal of the hernia would not solve the problem and that a screw fixation procedure was needed... However, those days my mother could not decide to have an operation due to financial reasons, the distance of Istanbul, and particularly fear of surgery. As all patients with a lower back problem, my mother was mostly afraid of being paralyzed or getting worse than before. Recently, her walking distance as well as her capacity to stand considerably declined, and as a result, she decided to have an operation. While searching for a doctor on the internet, we read the comments about Mr. Onal serving at Acıbadem Hospital in Eskisehir. We went to him for examination. Mr. Onal said the same things i.e. that my mother has the problems of lumbar spondylolisthesis and narrowed spinal canal. Mr. Onal briefly told us all the preoperative and postoperative steps. My mother was convinced and decided to have an operation. As a result, the hernia is removed from my mother's lower back, an implant is placed between the two vertebrae for the canal stenosis, and a total of 6 screws were apllied to 3 vertebrae. The operation was performed successfully. The postoperative care was perfect. After the surgery, my mother spent 2 nights in the hospital, and then was discharged. Mr. Onal instructed my mother to walk after the 10th day. 3 months passed after the operation, and now she can walk a total of approximately 5 km in a total of 1 hour everyday... My mother is now very well. May Allah be pleased with our doctor. May Allah keep your hands healthy, Professor. So glad we have you...

  • Dear Professor, I'm not your patient and you don't know me. I saw you yesterday while you were giving information to patient relatives in the intensive care unit. I found your name and came across this page while searching on the net. It is very nice to see estimable physicians like you, acting warm-heartedly and empathetically towards their patients. Your parents can't proud of you enough. I wish all physicians can provide the shine and happiness that appeared in the eyes of the women, to whom you gave information, when she saw you... and I wish they can also empathize like you. As a patient's relative, I'd like to thank you. Yours sincerely

  • Dear Professor, I am writing from Siirt. My mother is living the 3rd year after her herniated disk surgery. You operated her when she had a lumbar fractured. She is very well and every night prays for you. I saw you and wanted to write these. May Allah be pleased with you. What a good person you are.

  • Good morning Professor. Today is the 41st postoperative day. I walked with my wife in the park for 1 hour early in the morning. We also walk in the evening... just as you said; 1 hour for you and the rest of it for me. It was great to walk again without pain. I hope this will not change. Thank you so much Professor. May Allah be pleased with you.

Dear Ekrem, I am very happy. You are great. Give my regards to your wife. You are right to be suspicious with 10 screws in your lower back but all will go well as long as you keep doing your daily walking exercise as I have told you. Regards.

  • Mr. Onal, when I read your site, I thought that if everything would be okay after surgery, I would owe you thanks as well. Thank you so much again because my mother can now walk upright. Thank you for your effort.

  • Hello Professor. I live in the town of Midyat in Mardin province. About 5 years ago, a lumbar hernia developed when lifting weights. 2 days ago, I felt a terrible pain in my lower back while playing football. I went to the hospital and had an MRI scan. The MRI report reads; "= Right parasternal weighted extruded disc formation was observed at level L5 s1, and there is pressure on the dural sac. There are stenosis as well as pressure on the nerve root, at the right neural foramen at subarticular recess level ...= .” What is this? What should I do? What is my status? What is the risk? What is the urgency of my condition? Can you help me please Professor? Thank you.

  • Dear Professor, my mother can walk with your favor. She had undergone 2 lumbar surgeries in another hospital in the past. Professor Bulent Onal said "I can enable her walk". The surgery took 3 hours. The next day my mother began to walk. May Allah protect your hands. I also extend my thanks to Acibadem Hospital.

  • How are you, Professor? My father had a herniated lumbar disc surgery19 years ago. The probrem recurred and now he cannot stand on his feet, and feels a terrible pain in his legs. I don't know what to do. Doctors say he needs a surgery. They intend to perform the platinum fixation procedure. I heard that you are a very good doctor. In which hospital do you currently serve? We live in the town of Midyat in Mardin province. We want to see you, so could you please give me your address.

  • Dear Professor, my mother has lumbar spondylolisthesis and narrowed spinal canal. All the doctors, to whom we went for examination, say a surgery is needed. She has currently a severe paint and we don’t want general anesthesia. Do you perform spondylolisthesis surgery with epidural anesthesia? How much it costs? Could you please give general information? We are in a very difficult situation.

  • Dear Professor, my mother has cervical herniated disc and needs to be operated, according to doctors. All surgeries carry risk but does this surgery have great risks? If so, could you please tell me what are they?

  • Mr. Onal, thank you so much for the information that you you've given. I'm very glad to know that there are still precious people like you in this country, where there are physicians too lazy to read a report in their hands, and look at our faces when we are with them. May Allah be pleased with you and grant you what you want. Yesterday, in your comment on my MRI result, you mentioned about the possibility of dislocation of the part placed during the surgery. Next morning I imploringly had an x-ray in a small hospital in our town but could not find a doctor for showing it. The doctor at the emergency policlinic said "it seems to have a slight dislocation but you'd better show it to a specialist. I took their photos clearly but cannot send them from this webpage. How can I reach you?

  • Dear Professor, you performed the surgery of my mother in Acıbadem Hospital in Eskisehir, based on the diagnosis of pituitary adenomas. My mother, who started to see us again, always prays for you and she doesn't want to go to any other doctor ever since you left the city. I think we will need to go to Batman. Regards.

  • Dear Professor, my mother had a brain tumor surgery in Batman Dunya Hospital. In Izmir, many doctors said that it would be risky and she would not be able to be operated. It's a big chance for us that you are in Batman. My mother regained her health thanks to your smiling face. May Allah be pleased with you.

  • Dear Professor, first of all, I'd like to thank you for that you allocated time and thoroughly enlightened me. I had my cervical herniated disc surgery in 01.31, 2015. My both hernia were removed. I will start receiving physiotherapy at the end of March. Thanks to you, I made an easier surgical decision. I wish you all the best throughout your life… Thank you... Best regards.
